Speaking with the guys at Hyundai UK, Steve Hicks, Head of Products, would love the Genesis to come to the UK and hinted that although the chances of the first generation getting converted to RHD is very slim (read none) if he gets his way the second gen will.
I don’t think the 2012 facelift will make it but the 2013 Hyundai Genesis on looks alone would fit into the Hyundai UK plan.
Hyundai UK are on a mission to make the Hyundai brand instantly recognisable, the new Hyundai range will all have trademark traits, as we’ve seen on the Veloster, and the i30 being released later this year, it was described to us that they want all the cars to look like “brothers and sisters” when all together. The 2013 Genesis Coupe fits right into the upcoming range with both the hexagonal grill and the design of the headlights.
The Genesis Coupe also comes with upgraded engines; the Lambda 3.8L GDI and the Theta 2.0L TCI. The Lambda in particular plays a major part in the increases performance by directly injecting fuel into the cylinder, and combines, the two produce a maximum output of 350ps and maximum torque of 40.8kg.m. The more powerful engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which adds dynamic driving performance and smoother shifting. They’ve even tuned the engines note to ensure it sounds like the sports car it is.
