370-Horsepower Hyundai Veloster Turbo – Pictures + Video

Hyundai and Fox Marketing Cars have teamed up to deliver the most powerful Veloster Turbo street machine ever. The car was seen at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

At the core of Fox Marketing’s engine was Hyundai’s 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder direct-injected T-GDI engine.

Fox added a number of advanced engine components to create an absolute beast.

Among those additions were a new 845 Motorsports turbo upgrade, BorgWarner EFR turbo, front-mounted intercooler, AEM water/methanol injection system, VP Racing 101-octane performance fuel and an ECU tune from SeoulfulRacing, all of which adds up to an impressive 370 horsepower.

The goal was to keep the Veloster Turbo concept close to the ground and flat when cornering at high speed, which was achieved by adding a UNIQ Performance strut brace, ImportShark chassis bracing and fully-adjustable ARK Performance coil-over suspension.

The car has incredible stopping power, thanks to the addition of WP Pro EX6 6-piston front calipers with carbon fiber ducting and 13.6-inch wavy-cut rotors.

The Veloster Turbo gets an aggressive styling with a number of exterior modifications that are in line with the changes made to the other areas of the car.

BASF created a hand-mixed paint called R-M Oynx HD Waterborne SkyAqua Pearl, to deliver an eye-catching exterior color.

An ImportShark front lip spoiler, Hyundai Genesis fog lights, and custom front and rear fascias round out the cool exterior changes.

Hyundai shows Walking Dead Veloster Zombie Survival Machine at Comic-Con

Hyundai Veloster Turbo made up for The Walking Dead tv show - front three-quarter view

The Walking Dead, the hit zombie apocalypse show on AMC, has enjoyed a marketing tie-in with Hyundai for two seasons now. If you've watched the show, you'd no doubt seen Rick Grimes, his sociopath-in-training son Carl and emerging hero Glenn Rhee avoiding the dead behind the wheel of a light-green Hyundai Tucson. That relationship expanded beyond the show when Hyundai brought an Elantra Coupe-based Zombie Survival Machine to last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

For this year's Comic-Con, the new Zombie Survival Machine is just a touch faster, funkier and deadlier. Based on a Hyundai Veloster Turbo and built by Galpin Auto Sports to decapitate as many Walkers as possible, this four-door hatch has been heavily modified. The headlights, taillights and windows are all protected with a combination of wrought iron and chainlink fencing. There's also plenty of armor on the body panels.

Passive zombie killing features abound, like the "horde plow" on the front bumper and sawblade grille. But by and large, the majority of the Veloster Turbo Zombie Survival Machine's offensive power comes from a combination of firearms and chainsaws. A .50-caliber machine gun is mounted on the roof, along with a pair of assault rifles on the hood. Each door features blades along the base and a machine gun. Melee weapons can be found in the back, including a spiked baseball bat or katana.

We see a few issues with the Veloster Turbo ZSM. Clearly, the creators have never read Max Brooks' excellent book, World War Z, otherwise they'd know that flame throwers (of which we counted three) are ineffective against the dead, as are rapid-fire weapons. Our nerdy minds aside, this is a pretty cool one-off concept from one of the very best shows on television. But if you think you can do better, Hyundai has set up an app for fans to design their own Zombie Survival Machines. The winning entry will get their car built and put on display at New York Comic-Con in October. Now, if you'll excuse us, we need to see if we can retrofit our long-term Veloster Turbo into a Zombie Survival Machine.

All New 2014 Hyundai i10 Spotted Testing

The all-new Hyundai i10 is a car that is refusing to move from the industry headlines.

There have been several sightings of the vehicle being tested in India, and it’s also known that it will be available here shortly after its international launch.

Rumors are flying about the new hatchback, with the latest being some speculative renderings from the good folks at ICB. These are intended to give consumers an idea of what to expect from the i10.

The rendering take into account Hyundai’s “fluidic sculpture” design, which would put it in the same ranks as the new Sonata and the Elantra compact car.

The car might even make its debut in India with the i15 nameplate. There are also some who believe that “Brilliant” might very well be the name given to the vehicle.

2014 i10 Getting 1,1L CRDI Diesel Engine

Whatever name the vehicle goes by, one thing you can be sure of is that it will have a diesel engine variant powered by Hyundai’s 1.1L CRDI oil burner.

The 1,2L gasoline “Kappa” engine, which appears in the curent models of Hyundai i10 and i20, will continue to be available.

You can also expect the new vehicle to offer more in space, quality, and equipment, so that it would be more in line with its biggest rivals.

Expect the 2014 Hyundai i10 to make its official public premiere late this year or early next year. [Photosource:]

2015 Hyundai Genesis Interior Spy Shots, Launch Date

Hyundai is currently hard at work putting together the second-generation Genesis luxury sedan.

It’s not due out till next year, but spy shots show that it looks set to borrow some cues from the HCD-14 Genesis concept that was recently on display at the Detroit motor show.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will certainly have a more conservative design than the rakish HCD-14, but it will pick up a few cues.

Exterior Styling

The most noticeable of those are the front and rear clips, which are a lot less pinched in appearance than they were on the concept.

The grille is virtually identical, although there are more bars in the oversize square grille and LED headlights.

At the rear of the new Genesis, the undulating contours of the concept are discarded, but the detailed LED lighting remains.

The spy shots make it look as though the new Genesis will have a longer wheelbase, with the likelihood being that more space will be created in the rear seat and trunk.

Inside Look At The 2015 Genesis

On the inside, the photos show some pretty good views of the all-new Hyundai Genesis cabin.

The conservative look of the exterior is maintained on the inside, with the design similar to that of the revised 2014 Equus US-specs.

It’s a clean, modern design where gauges blend the traditional dial look with digital screens and a center stack that is relatively button free.

The same cannot be said for the steering wheel, which has no less than 10 different buttons and 4 scroll wheels.

That said, the addition of those buttons give a little indication of the technology we might expect to see in the 2015 Hyundai Genesis.

Those are likely to include adaptive cruise control, a lane keeping assist system, heated steering wheel, automatic wipers, and power opening and closing trunk.

Release Date?

There is no indication as of when the 2015 Genesis would be released as well as to what engines will be found under the hood.

Though, it would not be a major surprise to find the 3.8L V-6 and 5.0L Tau V-8 engines and eight-speed automatic that is in the current model. That is also the same engine that was found in the HCD-14 concept. [Photosource: CarAdvice]

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Receives Interior Design Award

The all-new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is once again the apple of the industry eye, as its upscale interior has received an accolade from WardsAuto.

The editors of the publication name the Santa Fe Sport to their Ward’s 10 Bes Interiors list.

Tom Murphy, executive editor, WardsAuto, said the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is exactly what you would expect from a midsize family CUV.

He also noted that the editors particularly admired the upscale design and tasteful interior, as well as the affordability of the car.

WardsAuto editors have been hard at work evaluating vehicles since February so that they could narrow down the 46 contenders into a top 10.

Editors look at a number of different things during the selection process, paying attention to such things as the layout of the instrument panel, all the way up to checking the seams and armrests on the seats to see if they appear straight.

On CUV’s and SUV’s, they also pay attention to the space and comfort provided by third row seating.

Driver information is another category that is taken seriously. Since Bluetooth phone links are now commonly found in new vehicles, editors are able to connect their smartphones to test voice activation.

The interior of the Santa Fe Sport has a flowing design that is designed with both driver and passenger in mind. You will find an 8-way power driver seat, heated rear seats, and a standard 40:20:40 folding rear seat.

All Santa Fe models that come with cloth seating will have a YES Essentials seat fabric treatment that delivers soil-resistant, anti-odor, and anti-static properties that will make the seats last much longer.

More natural light is allowed into the cabin thanks to the addition of an optional panoramic sunroof.

The 2,4L and 2,0L Turbo models come standard with a push-button starter and proximity key, as well as an electrochromatic gauge cluster color LCD screen. Options include sliding second row seats and a toasty warm heated steering wheel.

The 2013 Santa Fe Sport has come in for some real critical acclaim since it was released in fall 2012.

As well as this most current accolade, it has also been names the Crossover of the Year by Autobytel, as well as being named Best Car in its category by Kiplinger Finance Magazine.

Other cars named in the top 10 include the Acura RDX, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Spark, Kia Forte 2014, Lexus GS 450h, Mazda6, Nissan Pathfinder, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and the Toyota Avalon.
